TOUR – Friends, we've added a few more shows (and one more state) to the fall tour, including the Cedar Lounge in Superior, WI (10/17), the Ore Dock Brewing Co. in Marquette, MI (10/18), and the Arcata Playhouse in Arcata CA (11/9). All towns I love to return to. Meanwhile, tickets are on sale for the September tour with John Convertino and Eric Heywood across the northern plains, and we're going to cover a lot of pretty country, starting at the One Legged Magpie in Red Lodge MT (9/16), and moving through the Zootown Arts Community Center / ZACC in Missoula MT (9/17, Riddy Arman opens), the Ringling Social Club in lovely White Sulphur Springs MT (9/18), Live From The Divide Livingston MT (9/19), and the Covellite Theatre in Butte MT (9/20 Catfish Carl opens), before we head down to play the Kalif Shrine Auditorium in Sheridan WY (9/24), The Custer Beacon in Custer SD (9/25), and the Queen City Songwriters Inc. in Spearfish SD (9/26). I haven't played or been through South Dakota in a decade and I'm excited to get back, while north central WY holds magic for me I can't adequately describe.

DIVIDE – One of the things I tend to struggle with as an independent musician on the road, is how to set the ticket price fairly. Mostly I leave it up to my people and the clubs to sort out, as they know the towns and what the traffic allows. Occasionally they come up with a number I'm not real comfortable with (in case there might be people with young kids who have to pay a sitter, or some young and wolfish bachelor who reads too much and needs to save money for beer) and in that case we carve out a few discount seats. CAVISTE – I first met John Potenberg over the dinner table at his grandparents' house in Livingston, Montana, when he was a boy. Later, when Billy Conway's cancer became terminal and he decided to leave Wilsall and head back to NH to be nearer to family, I called John, by then learning the wine trade at the Gourmet Cellar in town, and he was kind enough to drive a case of wine right to Billy's RV. This week John opened up Caviste, his own wine bar in Livingston, and so before our show at Live from the Divide (9/19) we're re going to march down there and drink whatever John says we should drink, hopefully paired with some kind of French cheese, and you should join us, and see how fast we can put him in the black.

UFSA – THE UNIVERSAL FIRE: SOLO ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS is now available both as a download, and as a physical copy at the STORE, in the compact disc format. I haven't put it on the streams yet, because I am lazy and I don't like the streams.

PIETA – My dear friend and touring companion Pieta Brown has a lovely new record out called Dreamin' Of, co-produced by another friend and touring companion Mike Lewis, who also produced The Universal Fire. They cut it at Lewis and Barbara's place on the north shore of lake Superior, with the wonderful S. Carey on drums, and Brett Bullion, who mixed The Universal Fire, engineering and mixing. It sounds, predictably, fantastic. You should go find it, and pay her for it, so she can afford to go on tour and spend money.

That's it from here folks. It's been a real sweet summer mostly home, and the peach tree is heavy with fruit, the light changing and getting sort of dusty in that late season way. I haven't played more than a handful of shows in a row since March and I'm ready to get out there with my friends and take a few swings. We're lucky dogs, and we know it. I hope you'll come find us, or forward this letter to your people in the towns where we're headed, and tell them what talented, salt of the earth, breathtakingly humble people we are.
