Home Sweet Home

This Sunday (3/29), at 8pm eastern time (USA), I'll play a show from the relative comfort of my home, where the guitars are plentiful, and I happen to know the bartender. My friends down at The Parlor Room in Northampton, MA. will handle the tech side, process tickets and collect donations. And let's talk about donations.

A number of sweet people have recently asked if they could somehow support me directly while I'm off the road, and I want to say thanks. It's kind, and moving. And as much as I enjoy getting paid, this whole deal is going to work out best if we try to bring everyone in. That means working through the venues, and splitting up the money just like we do when we're on the road. That way the clubs keep the lights on, my booking agent makes a commission for setting up the show, and we manage to reach some folks who don't follow me directly, but perhaps follow their local joint, as they should.

I've never played a show in my own house before, so it's hard to know what will happen. There may be guest stars, like my dog, for instance. She hates it when I play guitar. I haven't put much thought into what I'll play, so if you have bright ideas, post your requests on my socials (Dear Lord, don't email them), and I'll collect them all and write them down illegibly as possible in ballpoint pen onto cocktail napkins, and scatter them on the floor, so it feels right.

We can talk later about whether allowing giant spy-server corporations like Facebook and Google to control 80% of the value in the economy via monopolies of what have become essentially public utilities - technologies we all have to use in order to participate meaningfully in society - is reasonable, and to what extent it's ethical to use those platforms for this purpose, and how it might make sense, for instance, to regulate the shit out of those companies, and pay everyone fractionally every time their personal data is bought or sold. But for now, let's concentrate on watching me play guitar and sing songs in my office.

Make sense? O.K. We'll see you Sunday, here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-parlor-room-home-sessions-jeffrey-foucault-livestream-tickets-100821766618
